DOMAINE BEGUE-MATHIOT (Les Epinottes-Burgundy)

Run by the mother/daughter team of Maryse and Guylhaine Begue-Mathiot, this gem of a vineyard is situated about 3km from the very centre of Chablis. They continue to expand their vineyard, bringing everyday, the necessary care to produce Grand Vins de Chablis while respecting the terroir.

It all started in the 1980’s, when Joel Begue, then a labourer in a large Chablis house, acquired 3 hectares of land classified as the Chablis appellation. In 1985, Joel, helped by his wife Maryse Mathiot, marketed his first bottles. They joined forces in 1990 to create Domaine Begue-Mathiot. Little by little and thanks to their hard work, they enlarged their vineyard to exploit a dozen hectares by the 2000’s.

In 2005, their daughter Guylhaine, an oenologist, began to work on the estate and learned the profession of winemaker under the watchful eyes of her parents. She became a partner in 2008. The same year Joel was swept away by illness.

Maryse and Guylhaine, more united than ever, continue the expansion of their vineyard, which today covers 17 hectares.
