TERRE MONTE SCHIAVO-MARCHE (Ancona) (Organic Farming)

"The Pieralisi family did not skimp on investment for its viticulture venture started up in 1995. Now there are eight excellent, fully operative vineyards to show for it, some in outstanding locations such as Coste del Molino and Tassanare, which are also natural beauty spots. The cellar takes the fruit and brings forth reliable, crafted products that deliver Quality without losing sight of affordability. The lion's share goes to Verdicchio and the very approachable reds."

-Gambero Rosso 2013

Hugh Johnson, and Oz Clarke both recommend Monte Schiavo as one of the top producers in the Jesi area.

Wines Represented by Mondo Vino:

2015 Pallio di Floriano Verdicchio Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC.      This flagship white wine always over delivers on quality to price ratio. Aged in stainless steel, it is a perfect example of balance between softness, varietal zest, and minerality. / 2011 3-Bicchieri Gambero Rosso

2014 Marzaiola Lacrima di Morra D'Alba DOC.  Stainless steel aged, big grapey nose with blueberries,  balanced and smooth with a delicate mouthfeel. Very funky. / 2012 90 pts Luca Maroni/Hugh Johnson rates Monte Schiavo's Lacrima good-excellent quality.

2014 Sassaiolo Rosso Piceno DOC. A 50/50 blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano; aged in large oak casks. Ruby red trending to garnet in colour. Here again is that balance trademark of Monte Schiavo. A very approachable red which is screaming for a meatloaf with ricotta  (a staple from the area). Pizza and pastas also work amazingly well.
