BTL $42.95+ (12 × 750ml)
Red grapes typical of the Montefalco area
“A new label for Perticaia, developed by the incumbent ownership, from the ancient Etruscan meaning “red.” Rofu is meant to write a new vernacular for the estate and Umbria, a place which is truly the central most point in all of Italy, drawn from the Alps to Reggio Calabria and also sea to sea. The blend is an “enologist secret” though we can be sure to place bets on 70-80 percent sangiovese accented by sagrantino and colorino. Five years of aging (36+24 in steel and wood) equip what is purported to be the most structured of all the wines with what is quite formidably a packed house of tannin. The vintage was a warm and fruitful one which means that the wine has done its time and freshness is on the way out. Secondary character is in play, with forest floor, "frutta di bosco," dried wild berries and an early truffling happening right now. Big wine, ready to drink and with just enough sweet acidity to keep this Etruscan dream alive.” ~ Michael Godel ~ 92 Points ~ winealign.com
